As being education age, a person lacks of education is like to be living
in the blind world. Also, a country without enough educated persons can not
live proudly among other countries. My country, Myanmar is also trying to
improve its education standard to be well developed country like other
After completing my first degree - B.C.Sc at the University of
Computer Studies, Mandalay, in 2004, I started working in Diamond Palace
Company Limited as a System Engineer. I worked at the IT department of
Company for networking, web development and other computer related
works. I took responsibility all the IT work in company. Before working in
this company, together with my close friends, I founded a computer center
named ASP (Aspiration Computer Center) in Mandalay. I worked and
managed in the center as part time job.
While working for the Diamond Palace Company, I took Master
degree coursework including thesis research at the same university in
Myanmar. Then I changed part time job as a web developer position during
my studies for master course work. I was quite difficult for timing to do all
my works - job, study and social charity works, but these struggles made me
some improvements acquired by experiences. In the final year of my B.C.Sc
course, I did a project with group as a team work. The project which was
titled “Space shouting Game developed with C++ programming and DirectX
9” was submitted as a part of the studies for B.C.Sc degree.
When the coursework for the Master of Computer Science degree had
been completed, I started doing my thesis research with title of
“Spreadsheets Data Transformation into Web Database using XSLT.” It was
until November, 2009. My thesis research was in the area of web database
and centralized server using XSLT for spreadsheets data as query processing
and transformation with XML documents on the Web. After completed
thesis research, I submitted research paper which was accepted by PSC
(Parallel and Software Computing) conference in Yangon, Myanmar for
December 31, 2009 (PSC 09 Conference).
Another study along with a project – a networking project that I
recently took was ICTTI Japan Network Engineering Course. This course
was a tough one that I had to do various ways of studies – team-works, daily
reports to be completed before 5:00pm in every study-day. It was for six
month Network Engineering course to acquire networking knowledge as my
final project. I also take part in World Shwegyin Buddish Association
Conference, 2009 in Mandalay as a member of Report & Information
committee for one month.
All studies and experiences shape my life to be more mature and to
get more improvement to aim more success for my career and contribution
for the society I live in. For that aim, my first dream is to get a Master
degree from NTU for my better qualification. I am living with this dream of
being a successful Software Engineer in the IT industry and using my every
experience as an opportunity for my dream come true. Nanyang Technology
University strives to develop a community of learners with a desire to
achieve excellence. Students are fully engaged in the learning process and
participating in many kinds of activities which encourage them active,
experiential, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary learning. At Nanyang
Technological University, learning Computer Integrated Manufacturing
Programme is very similar to my current academic background. When given
the opportunity to attend NTU, I will uphold the traditions and practices as
stated in the qualifications for the ASEAN Scholarship Award.
If I get a chance to attend the course for Master degree in NTU, I
believe all my knowledge of computer science and qualification will be
improved much better. Furthermore, I can learn not only higher education
but also the industries of the Singapore, a developed country in ASEAN
region. I can also share my knowledge and experiences with my friends from
different countries in my class. At the same time, I will have a chance to
learn some aspects of their cultures and traditions as I believe that knowing
the cultures of each other makes us understand and united for peace and
The main reason why I want to attend the master course in NTU is I
want to serve my country as a better and skillful computer scientist
(engineer) in future. There are many things that I should and can do for my
country after I have studied the higher education in NTU. I’m sure if NTU
gives me the opportunity to attend M.Sc. course, I will try my best to
improve my qualification and to contribute society with what I can and to
serve my country. This is my dream that I’m pursuing for.
